Wearing a harness at home first makes a trip to the vet less of a fight.
A vest-style harness in deerskin velvet, with a 150 cm lead that is 1.5 cm wide. Sizes run from XXXS to S, in yellow, red, green, dark blue or pink. A vest wraps the whole chest, which is harder to slip out of than a single strap.
Get your cat used to wearing it indoors, for a few minutes at a time, before taking it anywhere. Do not leave a cat tied up unattended.
How it works
- 1Measure first
Measure the widest part of the chest behind the front legs, then pick a size.
- 2Wear it indoors
Five minutes at a time, then a treat and take it off.
- 3Add the lead at home
Clip the lead on indoors before any outing.
Works best if
- Your cat travels to the vet or in the car
- You want to sit in the garden with your cat on a lead
- You are working on carrier confidence
Skip it if
- Your cat panics when restrained; talk to your vet first
- You plan to leave your cat tied up on their own
Questions about this one
Which size?
Measure the widest part of the chest: 25 to 29 cm is XXXS, 30 to 35 cm is XXS, 34 to 40 cm is XS, 40 to 45 cm is S. If you are between sizes, go up.
Can a cat escape from it?
Any harness can be slipped by a determined cat. Keep a hand on the lead and practise indoors first.
