What is in it

Many cats that ignore catnip react to silvervine instead.

Sticks of silvervine, a plant that cats chew, lick and rub their faces on. Each is about 16 by 5 by 2 cm and weighs 11 g. Some versions come with a small plush attachment.

Give it as a short, calm activity. Not every cat responds to it.

How it works

  1. 1
    Put one on the floor

Some cats chew straight away. Others sniff it for a while first.

  2. 2
    Keep sessions short

A few minutes, then take it away so it stays interesting.

  3. 3
Throw it away when it splinters

Do not leave pieces small enough to swallow.

Works best if

  • Your cat ignores catnip
  • Your cat likes to chew
  • You want something calm for the evening

Skip it if

  • Your cat has dental problems
  • Your cat bites off and swallows pieces of wood
