The plan that goes with it
The New Kitten First-Month Plan
The illustrated guide for this problem, £7.99. Included free with our kits and boxes.
A shy cat settles faster when it has somewhere to disappear to.
A teepee-style tent with a cushion mat inside. The cat can go in and out, and from inside it can watch the room without being in the middle of it.
It ships from a UK warehouse. The supplier lists it for cats, kittens, puppies and small dogs, so check the size on the product page against your cat before ordering.
How it works
- 1Put it in a quiet corner
Somewhere with a wall behind it, away from the door and the washing machine.
- 2Leave it alone at first
Let your cat find it. Put a worn T-shirt or a blanket inside to make it smell familiar.
- 3Reward visits
A treat inside the tent, left for them to find, works better than lifting them in.
Works best if
- Your cat is shy or new to the house
- You want somewhere for a kitten to nap
- You want a hide for the corner of the sitting room
Skip it if
- You need a big bed for a very large cat
